  • Are you in a leadership or senior role and want to take your next career step?

  • Do you know that you have lots of valuable experience, but sometimes have the nagging feeling that you could have done more to sell yourself in applications and interviews?

  • Do you get through to preliminary interview stage with executive search firms but feel fed up with not making it to the final panel interview?

  • Alternatively, maybe you do well at the first interview but generally find yourself a runner up at final panel rather than being the successful applicant.

Would you like to take proactive steps to change this?

As a certified career and leadership coach (ICF ACC) with two decades of recruitment experience and an extensive track record of executive search, interim leadership appointments and non-executive appointments, I can help you.

If you are ready to do the work and can commit to regular one-to-one coaching sessions for three to six months depending on your preferred pace, along with some reflection time in between sessions then this could be for you.  Together, we will make sure you get the application process for your dream leadership role off to a flying start.

I offer a powerful mix of coaching skills and practical career know-how. I’ve helped countless leaders to achieve the career move they really want and I can help you too.

I’ve brought the best of this experience together in a one-to-one career coaching support package for people in senior roles: The Career Move Confidence Package.

Over six sessions we will work together in-depth using:

  • Thought-provoking workbooks with reflection exercises to kickstart your thinking

  • Fortnightly meetings for three months including coaching and tailored practical support with navigating the executive recruitment market

  • Regular contact in between sessions for check ins, accountability, questions and detailed feedback on your draft applications via the Signal Messaging app or email

Our work together will help you get really clear on the following:

  • Who you are and what are you known for: values, strengths, skills and impact

  • Your ‘offer’ in the recruitment market: your unique selling points; your career narrative and how the story so far prepares you for your next career step

  • How to maximise your personal brand: with detailed feedback on your current CV and LinkedIn profile so you can get noticed by the right people

  • How to get the most from your interactions and relationships with recruiters to boost your chances of success

  • How you can convey your strengths more effectively so that you excel at interview

By the end of our work together you will:

  • Be crystal clear on your unique 'offer' as a candidate and how to talk about it confidently

  • Have perfected a concise and engaging five-minute career narrative/overview. Getting this right is essential when you are asked ‘tell me about yourself/your career to date’ type questions at interviews or at networking events.

  • Take away detailed, practical and actionable feedback on your CV and LinkedIn profile from someone who has evaluated countless applications over many years in the recruitment industry. This will help you to make your experience stand out, ensure you get spotted by recruiters and secure interviews for your next career step

  • Know how to maximise your chances of success in executive recruitment processes and have an actionable plan to build stronger relationships with head-hunters

  • Be able to answer interview questions more persuasively and effectively

  • Feel excited about the future and confident that you’ve set yourself up to successfully make your desired next career step

Preparation

Before joining me for six themed individual career coaching sessions to support you as you prepare for your next career step you will:

  • Fill out a questionnaire so I can understand more about your career background, your experience to date of working with executive recruiters and where you would most value my expertise

  • Receive a detailed workbook with thought-provoking reflection exercises to stimulate your thinking in advance, so you are ready to make the most of my support from our very first session.

  • Fill out an online DiSC questionnaire.  DiSC is a model used to understand people's behavioural differences and you will receive a detailed written report plus feedback during our coaching sessions.

Session Plan

Session one: Who am I and what do I stand for? – 90 mins

Here we will focus on your values, strengths and skills. We will explore what are you known for, what impact you want to have through your work.  We will discuss your DiSC profile and you will reflect on how all of this has influenced your career story so far and what you are seeking to do next.

Session two: Articulating a compelling career narrative – 60 mins

By the end of this session, you will be able to talk about your career story so far confidently, succinctly and in a way that leaves the listener wanting to know more. Having a compelling five-minute career overview up your sleeve to use in its entirety or to dip into depending on the context is really beneficial. It makes it so much easier to get off on the right foot during opening interview questions, when talking about yourself at networking events and is a great resource to have available when working on your CV.

Session three: CV and LinkedIn personal brand session – 60 mins

In this session we will undertake a detailed review of your current CV and LinkedIn profile.  You will leave with feedback and actionable suggestions to boost your chances of success, informed by my many years of recruitment experience.

Session four: Ask a head-hunter session – 60 mins

This is your chance to ask me anything about executive recruitment processes, with a practical discussion session tailored to your current level of understanding.  Being clear on how executive recruitment processes really work, how different stakeholders involved in the process can influence important decisions and what recruiters really need from you to help them to advocate for you as a candidate can make a big difference for candidates who are actively thinking about their next career step.

Session five: Excelling at interviews – 90 mins

Interview skills and mock interview session tailored to leadership recruitment processes including detailed feedback on your interview technique to help you excel at your next interview

Session six: Next steps for career success – 60 minutes

In our final session, you will reflect on your learnings and develop and commit to an action plan to make this your best career year yet.
